MARCOLA – Mohawk's C.J. Vian and Cord Wilkins knew their loss to Lowell six weeks ago was a fluke.

In order to prevent another upset from occurring, Vian and Wilkins took it upon themselves to pummel the Red Devils (15-6, 8-3 in the Mountain West) and lead the Indians (17-2, 9-1 in the Mountain West) to a resounding 73-46 boys basketball victory at home Tuesday.

"We came together," said Vian, who led Mohawk with 25 points. "Everybody played well, our defense is getting better and we were passing, cutting and finding each other."

Wilkins also had 25 points to go along with nine rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Vian set the tone early on, scoring 12 first quarter points and snatching two steals. Wilkins controlled the offensive glass despite giving up five inches to Lowell's 6'5" Garrett Brandt-Devereaux and had six points in the quarter, all on offensive put backs, to give Mohawk a 20-16 lead.

Austin Bloom kept Lowell in the game early with a rainmaking teardrop and a three from the right wing, but Mohawk was able to get up and down the floor with quickness in the half court.

"Lowell got tired on defense and we took advantage and dissected them a bit," said Mohawk coach Laric Cook. "We're starting to figure rotations and where we can play different people. We pushed the tempo and flew around out there."
