A Pleasant Hill-area man is believed to have fatally shot himself last Friday evening after a standoff with authorities.
At about 6 p.m. Feb. 26, Oregon State Police troopers and detectives set up a perimeter around the residence of Troy Adam Baker, 46, at 35820 Enterprise Road, about three miles south of Pleasant Hill.
According to Lt. Gregg Hastings with OSP, authorities attempted to contact Baker who was believed to be alone, armed and suicidal via phone and loudspeaker.
Those attempts proved unsuccessful, but a few minutes later an officer reported hearing a possible single gunshot from within the residence.
A SWAT team was called out to assist, and a section of Enterprise Road was closed for several hours.
About four hours into the standoff, troopers made their way into the residence and found the deceased body of Baker, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. No one was found inside the residence.
According to Lt. Terri Davie with the OSP Criminal Investigations Division, Baker had been the focus on an OSP investigation into alleged sex abuse involving a male victim over several years. At this point, detectives do not believe there were other victims.
The Lane County Sheriff's Office assisted the OSP.
