Springfield Police last weekend arrested a man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, a Springfield resident.
The body of Teresa CarlosDeSandoval, 45, was found outside her residence in the Country Manor Mobile Home Park on Daisy Street early last Tuesday morning, July 20.
The SPD initially listed the death as suspicious, noting the death may have been staged to look like a suicide.
"It was a suspicious death from the start," said Sgt. John Umenhofer. "Sometimes it's not always obvious on the front end. (Detectives) were investigating if it was staged to look like a suicide."
Sandoval's body was found by one of her five children in the early morning hours of July 20. The preliminary assessment was Sandoval had died from strangulation several hours earlier.
As the investigation continued, the incident became a murder investigation. That led to HuertaCruz being arrested last Thursday. He was charged with murder last Friday and booked into the Lane County Jail.
