The Springfield Titans fell short last weekend of a trip to state.
The Titans lost two out of three games in the American Legion super regional tournament and thus missed the opportunity to go to the state tournament in Klamath Falls.
The Titans staged an emotional comeback win on Friday, July 23 by a score of 13-11 over Alpenrose Dairy from Portland to put themselves in position to go to state by winning one of two games on Saturday but it wasn't meant to happen.
After the big Friday win, Springfield lost 6-2 to the Eugene Challengers on July 24 and followed that on the same date with a total meltdown against the Post 9 Highwaymen, losing 12-2 in seven innings. That sent the Challengers and the Highwaymen to state and ended Springfield's season.
